Bee[IW]-14.jpg

Bee is an animal portrait artist who works in oil on canvas. She lives and works in London but travels all over the UK, and occasionally overseas, to capture the likeness of her subjects.

She graduated from Goldsmiths in 2012, where she was awarded the Burston Prize for painting. In 2013 she was included in the Catlin Guide, and shortlisted for the Catlin Art Prize.

With a background in contemporary art and design as well as an appreciation of classical technique, she creates unique works of art which draw on the tradition of portraiture, but also offer something a little unusual.

Bee attributes her ability to capture the character of her animal subjects to a childhood in which animals played an important part. She grew up on a small farm surrounded by sheep, chickens and horses, whilst indoor pets included dogs, cats, rabbits, a pheasant and a muntjac deer.

Her portraits are all highly bespoke, taking into account her clients individual needs and their pets unique personalities:

"I work closely with my clients, and where possible travel to meet and photograph the dog in their own home. I find that this relaxed setting is most conducive to getting a sense of the dogs character, and also gives me an opportunity to get a feel for my client's taste and personal style."
